During the meeting it was decided to accept the Ukrainian Association of Translators and Interpreters as a new member of BWC. The Baltic Writers’ Council represents 21 literary organizations, 12 countries and approximately 17.000 members around the Baltic region and beyond. The Council which was founded during the legendary authors´cruise in 1992 is a multinational, non-profit, non-governmental organisation which promotes the freedom of expression, democracy and the free flow of ideas and information between the writers’ and translators’ organisations. https://www.balticwriterscouncil.info/
The UATI Support Fund

Dear colleagues! I would like to express our gratitude to the international community of translators and interpreters for the kind words of solidarity and support, for the desire to help us. In this hard time for our country we stay together and do our best to make the Victory come as soon as possible. Some of us are fighting in the Ukrainian army or territorial defence forces, others translate and interpret pro bono, which means we have lost the sources of income. To support Ukrainian translators and interpreters financially, the Ukrainian Association of Translators and Interpreters created the UATI Support Fund. We have already received USD 2200.00 from different countries of the world. Within 20 days, the UATI have sent to Ukrainian translators and interpreters the financial support of USD 2650.00 both from our own funds and the international community. We have helped our colleagues to get evacuated from Kharkiv, Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, other cities and villages, to buy medications and food, special footwear and a bullet-proof vest for our colleague who is now in the territorial defence forces.
