We are supported by the International Federation of Translators (FIT — Fédération Internationale des Traducteurs / International Federation of Translators). The UATI’s first step internationally will be the collective FIT membership for all its full members. It will offer new professional development opportunities for all of us.
We call everyone to join the Association, where the General Meeting of UATI Members is the highest managing body and solves all the key issues. We also aim to cooperate with interested professionals in all sectors from all regions of Ukraine and the whole world.
Forms of Membership in the Ukrainian Association of Translators and Interpreters
– the full membership is suitable for candidates who have 2 years of professional translation/interpreting experience and formal qualification as a translator/interpreter or 4 years of professional translation/interpreting experience (without formal qualification as a translator/interpreter);
– the associate membership is intended for people interested in translation, studying translation/interpreting, or translating/interpreting from time to time for pleasure.
Annual membership fee:
– UAH 700 for full members;
– UAH 250 for associate members.

Excerpt from the Articles of Association of the NGO Ukrainian Association of Translators and Interpreters
- PROCEDURE FOR BECOMING A MEMBER AND TERMINATING MEMBERSHIP; RIGHTS AND DUTIES OF ORGANISATION MEMBERS
4.1. The Organisation membership is voluntary and individual.
4.2. Citizens of Ukraine, foreigners, and stateless persons, who reside in Ukraine on lawful grounds, recognise the Articles of Association of the Organisation, and support activities focused on attaining the goal and objectives of the Organisation may be members of the Organisation. The procedure and grounds for becoming a member of the Organisation, additional conditions for membership, the amount of membership dues shall be governed by the Organisation’s Membership Policy and other documents to be approved by the Executive Board of the Organisation.
4.3. No one can be forced to join the Organisation. The membership of the Organisation or the lack thereof may not constitute a ground for restricting personal rights and freedoms of anyone or for giving privileged and preferential treatment to anyone by state authorities, other public agencies, and local governments.
4.4. Admission to the Organisation shall be based on a written application addressed to the Chair of the Executive Board by decision of the Executive Board of the Organisation to be made within one month of receipt of the relevant application. The Executive Board may refuse to admit any person to the Organisation. The Executive Board of the Organisation may delegate the right to admit Organisation members to branch offices of the Organisation or other bodies set up in accordance with the Articles of Association.
4.5. All members of the Organisation shall be equal in exercising their rights and duties within the confines of their chosen form of membership.
4.6. There are three forms of membership of the Organisation:
4.6.1 a full member;
4.6.2 an associate member;
4.6.3 an honorary member.
4.7. A full member of the Organisation shall have the right:
4.7.1 to elect and to be elected to managing bodies of the Organisation, to take part in all events hosted by the Organisation;
4.7.2 to participate in proceedings of permanent and provisional panels and other organisational platforms established by decisions of authorised bodies of the Organisation;
4.7.3 to submit inquiries and proposals to bodies of the Organisation in respect of issues associated with activities of the Organisation, and to receive answers;
4.7.4 to dispute decisions, actions, or inaction of managing bodies of the Organisation; to submit statements, objections, and complaints against their decisions to the Executive Board, and to require that complaints and statements be considered at the General Meeting;
4.7.5 to dispute decisions of the General Meeting before the court;
4.7.6. to receive information about activities of the Organisation;
4.7.7 to seek assistance with the protection of their rights and lawful interests from bodies of the Organisation;
4.7.8 to freely advocate and promote ideas and proposals on issues discussed within the Organisation until decisions are made on the relevant issues;
4.7.9 to leave the Organisation freely on the basis of their own written statement to that effect.
4.8. An associate member of the Organisation shall have the right:
4.8.1 to submit inquiries and proposals to bodies of the Organisation in respect of issues associated with activities of the Organisation, and to receive answers;
4.8.2. to receive information about activities of the Organisation;
4.8.3 to seek assistance with the protection of their rights and lawful interests from bodies of the Organisation;
4.8.4 to participate in proceedings of permanent and provisional panels and other organisational platforms established by decisions of authorised bodies of the Organisation, if invited by the leadership of the Organisation;
4.8.5 to leave the Organisation freely on the basis of their own written statement to that effect.
4.9. An honorary member of the Organisation shall have the right:
4.9.1. to support activities of the Organisation;
4.9.2. to receive information about activities of the Organisation;
4.9.3 to participate in proceedings of permanent and provisional panels and other organisational platforms established by decisions of authorised bodies of the Organisation, if invited by the leadership of the Organisation;
4.9.4 to leave the Organisation freely on the basis of their own written statement to that effect.
4.10. A full member of the Organisation shall be obliged:
4.10.1 to comply with provisions of the Organisation’s Articles of Association;
4.10.2 to comply with decisions of managing bodies of the Organisation;
4.10.3 to pay registration and membership fees in the amounts and within the time frames specified by the Executive Board of the Organisation;
4.10.4 to support the attainment of objectives of the Organisation;
4.10.5 to take part in public events hosted by the Organisation.
4.11. An associate member of the Organisation shall be obliged:
4.11.1 to comply with provisions of the Organisation’s Articles of Association;
4.11.2 to comply with decisions of managing bodies of the Organisation;
4.11.3 to pay registration and membership fees in the amounts and within the time frames specified by the Executive Board of the Organisation;
4.11.4 to support the attainment of objectives of the Organisation;
4.12. An honorary member of the Organisation shall be obliged:
4.12.1 to comply with provisions of the Organisation’s Articles of Association;
4.13.2 to comply with decisions of managing bodies of the Organisation;
4.13.4 to support the attainment of objectives of the Organisation;
4.14. The Organisation membership shall be terminated in the following cases:
4.14.1. upon opting to leave the Organisation;
4.14.2 upon expulsion from the Organisation by decision of the Executive Board in connection with the violation of requirements of this Articles of Association or if activities of a member contradict the goal and objectives of the Organisation, or if a member has lost contact with the Organisation without good reasons or has systematically failed to pay membership dues;
4.14.3 upon death of a member of the Organisation.
4.15. A member shall leave the Organisation by submitting a written statement to that effect addressed to the Chair of the Executive Board. Membership of a non-governmental association is terminated from the date of submission of the said statement without any additional decisions being required.
4.16. The following are grounds for expulsion of a member from the Organisation:
– multiple violations of requirements of the Articles of Association;
– failure to take part in activities of the Organisation either in person or via an agent for at least six (6) months;
– pursuing activities that taint the Organisation’s image;
– failure to pay membership dues for the previous year.
4.17. The decision on the expulsion of a member shall be made by the majority vote of members of the Executive Board of the Organisation.
4.18. A member of the Organisation shall not have the right to vote when the General Meeting solves the issue of their entering into a transaction and in respect of a dispute between them and the Organisation.
